FED:Gays have no right to marriage: churches=2
The group argues marriage promotes and protects the identity of children and their
internationally recognised right to know, have access to and be nurtured by both their
mother and father.
It says the legal recognition of marriage is needed to ensure a child's relationship
to the family unit and to both their mother and a father.
"Children have a right to the complementary experiences of mothering and fathering
as far as possible," the group said in a statement.
Mr Palmer rejects the view, backed by opinion polls, that most Australians support gay marriage.
He took aim at the mainstream media, saying it was not allowing a fair debate on the issue.
"If we had a full public debate, where every side had the opportunity to argue their
case, I think we would be like California.
"They had same-sex marriage legislated for, (but) when that went to a referendum the
people rejected it."
